On January 30, 2025, after successfully representing his client in a wage and hour action, Michael was awarded attorneys’ fees at the highest rate ever granted in North Carolina in an employment law contested fee dispute. Michael also obtained summary judgment on his client’s retaliation claim arising from the defendants’ frivolous counterclaims, marking the first time a North Carolina court has ever found that the filing of counterclaims may constitute unlawful retaliation in a wage and hour action.
